Optoglas is made of 4 mm heat-treated glass with or without energy coating and is fitted using special hinges and fittings on the window frame so that the glass can be opened for cleaning. A wooden bumper rail with Q-Lon weather seal can be fitted on the inside casing to seal the window tightly on the side facing the room.

Optoglas can be installed in two ways: Model 16 is the classic version with visible sealing strips. This installation requires no intervention in the existing window. Model 22 is primarily used when installing Optoglas on newly manufactured windows, or on windows where you want invisible sealing strips. This installation requires increased rebate depth. Remount the frame, close the window, mount tail hooks for casement fasteners on the centre mullion, attach the tail hook for the casement stay on the side jamb and fit the weather seal around the entire casing. When fitting the weather seal, it is important to press the Q-Lon strip carefully against the glass (press in 1 – 2 mm) to achieve the correct result.

Optoglas requires no special maintenance. When cleaning the window, unscrew the casement stay and then open the secondary pane to clean inside.
We do, however, recommend cleaning in calm weather conditions. Even though Optoglas is made of heat-treated glass, damage can happen. If the glass does break, the heat treatment will ensure that it shatters into many pieces that are not sharp. Procedure

Glass
Standard Optoglas is 4 mm heat-treated glass, around five times stronger than ordinary window glass. It is also deliverable as 4 mm heat-treated energy glass with reflective coating.
Optoglas is delivered to measure with three pre-drilled 8 mm holes for fitting casement fasteners and stays. Holes are usually placed 16 mm from the glass edge since, according to the glass manufacturer, the smallest distance should be twice the thickness of the glass.
Hinges and fittings
Standard Optoglas has corrosion-proof special hinges, bushings, casement fasteners, casement stays, tail hooks and distance buttons. Find pictures below of the accessories.
The hinge is made of 4 mm brass with a stainless steel pin as hinge pivot. The hinge has two countersunk screw holes for fitting the pane on the window frame and one M5 tap hole for mounting the casement fastener and bushing that support the glass.
The casement fastener has an M5 eye bolt.
All common casement stay types can be used, although these must be equipped with an M5 eye bolt.
Bushings are made of light-resistant Delrin. The outer diameter is 7.95 mm with M5 thread on the inside.
The white Q-Lon weather seal consists of polyethylene foil, polyethane foam and semihard polypropylene.
Wooden beading is pinewood, either untreated or primed with white paint.
